The brief was simple: Use a composite decking system from a former mobile home and incorporate a boot room with front door access, access to the rear deck and shaded area in the form of a polycarbonate roof system on the rear deck. In addition the entire deck had to sit on concrete blocks.
A significant amount of the original timber frames were rotten rendering them unusable; therefore I had to make good elements of the original frames then build a complete new frame for the rear deck.
A number of adaptations were necessary in order for the handrails and lower bars to fit into the new scheme.
A boot room was created to the side of the property with two new doors; on front door and one leading to the rear deck. To allow natural light into this area a polycarbonate roof was installed. Finally, the original steps were added to the side of the rear deck allowing access to a private flower garden.
Before: The private flower garden.
